Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about RapidHAZOP.

Getting Started
RapidHAZOP is a professional web-based HAZOP study platform built specifically for process safety engineers. It provides structured HAZOP documentation with Leader Mode for live meetings, built-in SIF Register, Cyber HAZOP analysis, Risk Matrix, Action Tracker, P&ID annotation, and one-click professional PDF reports — all running in a browser on any device, with no installation required.
RapidHAZOP is designed for HAZOP facilitators, process safety engineers, HSE professionals, safety managers, and independent safety consultants. It is used in oil and gas, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power generation, food and beverage, and mining industries.
No. RapidHAZOP runs entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to install, no IT department involvement needed, and no Windows license required. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and tablets.
RapidHAZOP works in all modern browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Firefox. Chrome and Edge are recommended for the best experience, particularly for Leader Mode and P&ID annotation features.
Yes. RapidHAZOP is tablet compatible and works on iOS (iPad) and Android tablets via the browser. For HAZOP data entry and review, a tablet works well. For live facilitated sessions using Leader Mode with a projector, a laptop or desktop is recommended.
Trial and Purchasing
Fill in the trial request form on the Contact page. We will email you a trial license key within 24 hours. No credit card is required. The trial gives you 7 days of full Base feature access.
The trial gives you access to all Base plan features for 7 days, limited to 1 project, 1 node, 10 deviation rows, and 15MB of storage. PDF reports are available during the trial but include a watermark. The watermark is removed when you purchase a paid plan.
Yes. All data entered during your trial is preserved when you upgrade to a paid plan. You can continue your trial study without re-entering any data, and your PDF reports will be regenerated without the watermark.
The Base plan is $349 for the first year and renews at $199/year — less than the cost of one billable day for most engineers. The HAZOP Professional bundle ($499) includes the Base license plus the Abhisam HAZOP Professional certification course. The HAZOP Leader bundle ($1,300) includes Base plus the HAZOP Leader course. All prices are in USD.
Yes. The HAZOP Professional bundle ($499) includes the Abhisam HAZOP Professional certification course plus a full year of RapidHAZOP Base — saving you $349 compared to purchasing separately. The HAZOP Leader bundle ($1,300) includes the HAZOP Leader course plus RapidHAZOP Base.
Please contact us via the Contact page to discuss volume pricing for teams or organisations purchasing multiple licenses.
Payments are processed securely via FastSpring. We accept all major credit and debit cards. Purchase orders and bank transfers can be arranged for enterprise customers — please contact us.
License and Renewal
When your license expires, you will lose the ability to create new content or generate reports. Your existing data is retained. You can renew at any time to restore full access. We send renewal reminders before expiry.
You will receive a renewal email before your license expires with a direct renewal link. The Base plan renews at $199/year. You can also contact us via the Contact page to arrange renewal.
Yes. You can generate PDF reports and export your data at any time during an active license. We recommend exporting your completed studies as PDF reports before your license expires as a precaution.
Your data is retained for 12 months after license expiry. If you renew within that period, full access is restored immediately. After 12 months of inactivity, data may be deleted. We strongly recommend exporting PDF reports of all completed studies.
Features
Yes. You can choose between Guide Word First and Parameter First worksheet layouts when setting up a study. The layout is selected per study and affects how deviations are structured and displayed, including in Leader Mode.
RapidHAZOP supports a 4×4 Risk Matrix, a 5×5 Risk Matrix, or no risk matrix — configured at project level. The risk matrix captures Initial and Residual risk scores per deviation, with automatic colour-coded risk badges and a risk profile summary in the PDF report.
Yes. RapidHAZOP includes a built-in SIF (Safety Instrumented Function) Register aligned with IEC 61511. You can identify Existing or Additional Safeguards as SIFs directly within each deviation row, entering Sensor, Logic Solver, Final Element, Timing, and SIL Level. A formatted SIF Register is generated automatically in the PDF report — no separate spreadsheet needed.
Cyber risk is built into every deviation row — you do not need a separate tool or worksheet. Each deviation has dedicated Cyber Threat and Cyber Vulnerability fields aligned with IEC 62443. Cyber safeguards, actions, and an Action Tracker with responsible persons, departments, and target dates are all captured within the same study. Cyber actions appear in the final report and department punch lists.
Yes. You can upload one P&ID drawing per node (JPEG or PNG). Annotations can be added directly in the browser using circle, freehand, rectangle, and text tools. Annotations are saved and visible in all subsequent sessions. The annotated P&ID is included in the final PDF report.
Leader Mode is designed for projecting during live HAZOP meetings. It switches the interface to a full-screen Card View — showing one deviation at a time with large, readable text that is visible from across a meeting room. All fields are editable live without leaving the view. You can navigate with keyboard arrow keys, on-screen buttons, or a wireless presenter clicker. The Card View is automatically synced with the underlying worksheet in real time. You can also switch to P&ID View during the meeting to annotate the drawing while the team watches.
Yes. Once you have completed the HAZOP for one node, you can clone it to create a similar node in the same or a different project. The clone carries all causes, safeguards, risk ratings, and actions. A guided review flags all copied content for you to check. You update only the tag numbers and differences — saving significant time on large studies with repetitive equipment.
Yes. The Duplicate Project feature lets you copy an entire project structure to start a similar study. You choose which elements to carry over — nodes, operations, guide words, and deviation rows. All copied content is flagged for review so nothing is overlooked.
Yes. The HAZOP Leader or HAZOP Chairman can draw their signature directly in RapidHAZOP and include it on the report cover page. The cover page also lists the HAZOP Leader name, organisation, date, and all team members.
Reports and Data
The PDF report includes: a signed cover page with HAZOP Leader name, organisation, team members, and date; table of contents; HAZOP Summary; Initial and Residual Risk Matrix; full HAZOP worksheet with all columns; Cyber Risk summary; Action Register with status; SIF Register sorted by criticality; department-wise punch lists; and annotated P&ID drawings. Each report has a unique auto-generated reference number in the format RH-YYYY-NNNN.
The primary export format is PDF, which is the industry-standard deliverable for HAZOP studies. Please contact us if you have a specific requirement for Excel export — this is on our development roadmap.
Yes. All study data and P&ID files are private to your account. They are not accessible to any other user or Abhisam staff. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. P&ID files are stored in a private storage bucket accessible only to your account.
Data is stored on Supabase, which uses secure cloud infrastructure. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Auto-save ensures all changes are saved automatically — there is no manual save required and no risk of losing work.
Technical and Security
Yes. RapidHAZOP uses industry-standard security practices including data encryption at rest and in transit (HTTPS/TLS), private per-account data storage, and secure authentication. P&ID files are stored in private buckets inaccessible to other users or Abhisam staff.
RapidHAZOP requires an internet connection to operate. It is a web-based application and all data is saved to the cloud in real time. Offline mode is not currently supported.
Real-time multi-user collaboration is planned for the Pro plan (coming soon). In the current Base plan, one user works on a study at a time. The HAZOP Leader can run the study in Leader Mode while projecting to the team.
Support
Support is available via the Contact page at rapidhazop.com/contact. We respond to all queries within one business day. HAZOP Professional and HAZOP Leader bundle customers receive priority support.
